ADHD and ME!

Hello everyone,

Remy here. I want to share a life update with you all. Ever since starting The Awakened Cast, I have struggled with undiagnosed ADHD, which resulted in starting many projects but never continuing them.

It has been hard for me because I love doing everything creative. Some of you might know that this podcast was initially going to be a live-play of a homebrew D&D game. I was having fun, but doubts and depression really sank in. I felt lost and put many of the things I wanted to do behind me. I tried to start this up many times but ended up failing. It made me feel like a failure and like something was wrong with me.

It turns out there was! ADHD held me back and hindered not only this project but also many other areas of my life. For my whole life, I always wondered why I was so different from everyone else. It wasn't until a couple of years ago that I considered I might have ADHD or be on the spectrum. So, I decided to see my NP to get a diagnosis. The whole process was lengthy, but two months ago, I was officially diagnosed with ADHD.

With that diagnosis came Vyvanse, a stimulant medication for ADHD. This was the turning point in my life. It’s still very new, but I have regained my motivation, my spark, and my sense of self. The bubbly, excited me is back. I don’t regret not getting diagnosed earlier in life; instead, I celebrate that today I can work towards bettering myself.

As the saying goes, "There is no better day to start than today."
